How To Decide What Content To Create

Do you struggle with what content to create for your dream clients?

I think this is definitely something we all struggle with from time to time. Especially in the beginning of building our coaching business.

In order to decide what content you need to create, you need to first think about your ideal client.

What pain points do they have? What wins are they looking for? What transformation are they wishing to create?

I heard it said this way once… what is the wish they are wishing when they blow the candles out on their birthday cake every year…Not the “I hope I get a cool gift, but the “If I could just do this one thing… I could change the world… kinda wish...

After getting crystal clear on that … let me ask you this….Do you have an intake form? What questions are/ or would be on it? What are some things you want to know about your client and what point they are on along their journey towards their desired transformation?

If you haven’t yet, take a minute and write down a list of 20 questions you would ask your ideal client in regards to where they currently are and where they want to be. What ideas do they have on how they think they could get there?

Looking at your questions, there are a lot of ideas for content!! Each one of those questions can be broken down into probably 3 different angles of content!

Once I have some ideas of the things they will need to do for this transformation I organize it into different containers or content buckets. And by that I mean there are usually some different ways to get to this transformation. And certain topics surrounding their journey.

Maybe one way or content bucket would be "mindset".

What are some things you can talk about that will help them get into a better mindset to do the things they need to do?

Things like battling imposter syndrome. Fear of doing the hard things or maybe fear of failure.

One bucket might be of actual steps they need to take. And maybe each one of those core steps can be its own content bucket.

Maybe one content bucket can be an inspiration. What inspiring stories can you share with them from your own journey... Or quotes that might help them feel inspired.

Having these containers or content buckets narrowed down to some specifics, you can then focus on finding subjects to talk about that fit within these buckets.

When our mind is laser-focused, it will actually look for more things that go with these topics. You will be surprised how you will start to find inspiration everywhere that will fit inside your specific content buckets.

Let's do a quick recap:

  • Get crystal clear about the transformation your ideal client is looking for.
  • Write out 20 questions you would like to learn from your client in relation to this transformation. This will give you a lot of ideas for topics or titles for your content buckets.
  • Having these specific content buckets helps you get narrowed in on certain types of information.
  • With this laser focus of topics/content buckets in your mind - you will start discovering things that you can fill up your content buckets with.
